Cats and Bamboo flooring

Written By Bamboo FAQ

Most people have pets and that means having a furry, four legged member of the family. While we all love our pets, there’s no doubt that having one usually means a good amount of extra work. Letting them in and out, cleaning them and feeding them is just part of it though. You always need to think of their needs, just like you would a child. For example, if you have a cat, that needs to factor into the type of flooring you’re going to go with.

Cats are very particular animals, as you probably know, but that’s not the issue here. What we’re more concerned about is finding a type of floor they won’t—how to put this nicely?—ruin. For example, hardwood floors look great, but cats can make quick work of it. Even if you’ve declawed them, over time, chances are your cat will find a way to make that floor pay.

Carpeting doesn’t have this problem, but still comes with many others. Your cat may track in on it or try to dig it up.

But bamboo flooring is beyond reproach. It looks great and bamboo flooring durability is second to none. So when you want a floor that’s cat friendly, go with bamboo.
